So unique we couldn't resist: Originally Evolutionary Music was dedicated to music accessories, not instruments themselves as there were too many people already in the business. That is until we encountered two craftsmen: Joe Luttwak and Jeremy Clark.

Mr. Clark was a protégé of the well-known Canadian guitar maker, Sergei de Jonge, who caught our president's attention while shopping for a new concert instrument. A short time later, when an aspiring guitarist who, after shopping for several weeks for a semi-concert instrument within $3,500 asked for our help, we contacted Mr. de Jonge who sent one of Mr. Clark's instruments for evaluation. We were so impressed with its quality that we recommended it without hesitation. The guitarist has been making serious strides with his new instrument since then and we expanded our initial vision because we had found a niche somewhat neglected: Quality HANDMADE professional instruments at student affordable prices.

We met Mr. Luttwak of Blackbird Guitars at a guitar convention in San Francisco. He had on display guitars....made of carbon fiber. Mr. Luttwak indicated that they were made for "high risk" situations. Having been a TTC busker, our president could relate. He tried the nylon string instrument and although it couldn't project as well as a high-end wooden guitar, it was capable of producing quality sound. A pickup is optionally built into the instrument with which we felt these carbon fiber instruments would be ideal for environments that could damage traditional guitars. Crowded restaurants, outdoor venues and busking are a few examples. Both steel and nylon stringed instruments are capable of quality sound. Unlike wooden instruments, the sound of these guitars never changes. Although a carbon fiber instrument has less need for additional protection, we always recommend a protective sleeve to prevent scratches. Because these instruments have a unique place in the world of guitar performance, Blackbird Guitars have earned a place in our product line.

Clark guitars include a standard case but Karura Case substitutions are available at $75 off listed prices if requested. Protective sleeves are available for Blackbird Guitars. You may also place your order by calling (416) 898-7719.

Notice on instruments by Jeremy Clark:

Recently Mr. Clark was sold out of instruments after showing his work to a group of university students but we just received word that he is opening his new shop in Montreal on November 7th and will have more instruments available shortly.
